Wise Counsel : Resources for Sexual Addiction and Recovery
The first step in seeking help is to admit the problem. This is frightening because there may be pervasive consequences-occupational, social, relational and possibly others. Admission of the problem, however, is critical to beginning the recovery process. You must take that first step no matter what it may cost. A failure to do so will only keep you entrapped in a prison of guilt and shame.
Many helpful resources are available that provide information, support, and assistance for those trying to regain control of their lives. What follows is brief list of those helps:

Mastering Life Ministries is focused primarily on sexual sin and brokenness. This site includes articles, frequently asked questions, and online store for books and other materials, an event calendar, recommended reading on a variety of topics, links to other helpful sites, and other resources.
Sexual Addictions: Information and Recovery
Faithful and True Ministries is the site founded by Dr. Mark Laaser, an internationally known Christian author, speaker, and expert in sexual addiction and recovery. Resources include background information on sexual addiction, articles, a self-test, recommended books, conference and workshop schedules, and links to other ministry partners.
Prodigals International is the site for the sexual addiction ministry of Pat Means, author of the well-known and respected book, "Men's Secret Wars," and his wife, Marsha. It contains a wealth of resources including articles on recovery, a self-test, and extensive list of additional resources, and an online store.
Pure Intimacy is the site sponsored by Focus on the Family and has two main sections: information and resources for those struggling with sexual sin and resources for people whose loved one is struggling. Content is of a very high quality. Resources include articles and book recommendations.
Online Sexual Addiction is a non-Christian site for help with sexual addiction via the Internet. It includes links to many other secular resources, a self-help test, information about resources for finding a therapist or psychologist.
eXXit is a site to help with temptations with online pornography. It offers "3 Minute Bible Studies" for help at the moment of temptation.
Porn-Free.org is a site founded by a former sex addict and his wife. It is a very good comprehensive site with many resources including information about sexual addiction, an online recovery plan, help for people in relationships with sex addicts, devotionals, frequently asked questions, and many links.
PureLife Ministries was one of the first Christian organizations in the US to create an intensive, Bible-centered, live-in program back in the 1980s for recovery from sexual addiction. Their web site offers a lot of information and an online store for purchase of their published materials.
XXX Church is an edgy, urban, hip, youth-oriented site targeting anyone involved with pornography, especially Internet porn. It offers facts, information, links, and prayer support.
Christians for Sexual Integrity offers general background information on sexual addiction and a checklist for signs and symptoms of sexual addiction.
SexHelp.com is the site of Dr. Patrick Carnes, internationally known expert in the field of sexual addiction. He was one of the first to address this issue with his 1983 book entitled, "Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction".
